DHL UAE sets up company’s first regional Customer Panel

DHL UAE has formed its first regional Customer Panel, in a bid to increase efficiency and service and become even easier to do business with. The DHL Customer Panel is made up of six key clients from different industries who will discuss issues concerning the development and streamlining of the company from a non-industry perspective. ‘The panel’s aim is to feedback views on what customers want and expect,’ said David Wild, General Manager, DHL UAE. ‘With direct customer input we hope to produce fresh and innovative ideas which will keep us ahead of the industry.’ Three customer panel meetings are planned this year and members will probe a number of issues including invoicing, account management, marketing and service. ‘The outcome of our first meeting was very positive,’ added Wild. ‘We received a number of significant suggestions and valuable feedback that we will be looking into further.’

Top appointment by TNT in Kuwait

Leading executive Richard Clayton has taken the reins of TNT in Kuwait.

It marks a return to the Gulf for Clayton who has served as general manager of Kuwait and Bahrain operations before.

Clayton says: ‘The key focus for this year is to further develop our core business here in Kuwait and to expand on the Middle Eastern Road Network we set up last year. This is proving to be a great success and offers considerable opportunity for further expansion.’

Clayton takes up his position in Kuwait at a particularly exciting time for the Dutch-owned integrator in the Middle East. TNT recently announced it is recording year-on-year revenue growth of more than 25 per cent in the region.

UAE delegation unfolds Emirates Post’s growth plans at European postal conference

Addressing the conference, Mr. Abdullah Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post, highlighted how in just three years after becoming a corporation Emirates Post had emerged as a leading and dynamic postal player in the region, driven by innovation and diversification. ‘Emirates Post believes there is a need for greater dynamism in postal business. As private companies increasingly enter areas that were once the sole domain of posts, we need to reinvent ourselves to meet the changing customer expectations and business needs,’ Mr. Daboos said. Mr. Daboos referred to Emirates Post’s plan of diversifying into logistics, financial services and retail operations through the postal network. He said Emirates Post was in negotiations to acquire a financial services company and a logistics & cargo company, as part of its diversification plan.

Middle East transport sector to undergo major changes

The Middle East’s transportation industry including the $10 billion (Dh36. 8 billion) logistics and express mail market is set for more competition, consolidation and privatisation in the coming five years, a study from The National Investor (TNI) said.

“Following the worldwide convergence towards ‘one stop shop’ supply chain and logistics management solutions, we believe the transportation industry in the Middle East is on the verge of revolutionary developments such as consolidation and privatisation,” said the comprehensive research report obtained by Gulf News. The report comes in the wake of the ongoing initial public offering (IPO) of Arab International Logistics Company that plans to acquire Aramex International.

The Middle East logistics market is valued at more than $10 billion with the GCC market accounting for about 10 per cent of this. The UAE accounts for roughly 35 per cent of the GCC but Saudi Arabia leads with a 55 per cent share.
