New procedure for opening of postal agencies in UAE

Emirates Post has announced a new procedure concerning the opening of new postal agencies. The Directorate of Zonal affairs will be in overall charge of these agencies whether they are associated with Postal Zones or with Emirates Commercial Services (Empost). At present there are more than 211 licensed shops to provide postal services throughput the UAE, including 29 fully-fledged post agencies and 182 stamp agencies.

Riyadh approves privatisation plan

Saudi Arabia’s highest economic policy-making body yesterday endorsed a privatisation strategy among a series of decisions aimed at boosting the role of the private sector. DHL signs three-year Dubai 7s official courier deal

DHL, the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s air express supplier, has signed a three-year deal to be official courier of the annual Dubai Rugby 7s tournament, which has Emirates airline as its title sponsor. “DHL’s long-term commitment to the event underlines the competition’s ability to consistently enhance sponsors’ exposure,” explained Chris Picken, commercial manager of Dubai Rugby 7s.

A new speedy and secure means of transferring money to anywhere through 70 post offices across the UAE has been set up. Emirates Post, and Western Union Financial Services Inc., entered into a tie-up and announced their International Money Transfer Service agreement yesterday.

Emirates Satellite Post Offices launched

Emirates Post has launched a single counter postal service – manned by one person – in crowded districts to meet growing demands, said Abdullah Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post.
Speaking to Gulf News, Daboos said the service has been initiated as part of efforts by Emirates Post to provide greater convenience to the public.
“The service is known as Satellite Post Offices comprising just one counter. They are established in market places where space is limited, in order to have a full-fledged post office.
