Deutsche Bahn Cargo, the state-owned rail company of Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, is to take an undisclosed stake in the German national intermodal operator Kombiverkehr in Frankfurt.
DB Cargo and Kombiverkehr want to give intermodal traffic new growth impulses through a closer partnership, the companies said in a statement. The companies want joint product and capacity planning in order to reach better quality for forwarders and shippers, they said.
They’re stressing an ‘equal partnership”, which can’t be true, simply because Kombiverkehr is already highly dependent on services and rates of Deutsche Bahn Cargo.
Kombiverkehr is by far the largest European operator in intermodal swap bodies and container traffic On June 27 Kombiverkehr will decide on the DB Cargo offer.
