US Teamsters win major agreement at UPS Freight

Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced today that the union has won a card-check agreement at UPS Freight, providing a major boost to the Teamsters’ organizing efforts at the former Overnite Transportation. Union leaders have been pursuing with UPS the negotiation of an organizing agreement since UPS bought Overnite last year.

Palletways hits target

Palletways now has 27 members a week feeding freight into the international service that it launched in January
European development manager John McCormick says the number is growing all the time. The present single-deck trunk to Nijmegn is running at capacity and he predicted that not only a second also a third trunk will be introduced by Easter.
Palletways is considering adding a double-decker, although it will have to meet Dutch height limits.

Express Delivery Service Connects With Europe

TOOLES Transport, based in Droitwich, has launched a new express delivery service for small consignments of goods to mainland Europe.

As a member of the Palletways distribution network, which has more than 100 depots in the UK, the company will now be able to distribute small consignments more cost effectively and faster than before to a vast European marketplace, inclu-ding Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxemborg, Denmark, France and Germany.
