FORTEC TALKS WITH APC

Fortec Distribution Network and APC Overnight are in talks about working together, says Fortec director Rob Abrahams. Plans are in the “early stages”, he says.

The news comes as a second APC member company joins Fortec. Millbray Pallets has been formed as a subsidiary of L&C, based in Hainault, Essex to do the Fortec work.

UK pallet network Palletforce has launched a nightly direct link from its UK hub in Lichfield to Belgian member Gillemot, based inKampenhout. The link, operated by Redhead International, provides for a 48 hour door-to-door service throughout Belgium and the Netherlands.

BUSINESS POST WOOS ITS UK PALLET PARTNERS

Business Post launched its UK Pallets network- formerly called Weaver- to its 70 partner transport firms at a hotel in the midlands on Saturday.

Customers can be shared, partners were told, and they were urged to cross- sell parcels under new incentive schemes, called “£££s for pallets and “£££s f for parcels”; it is understood that those gaining new contracts will win 15% of the first 13 weeks’ revenue.

McCarthy latest UPN member

Wrexham-based McCarthy Haulage has become the latest member to join United Pallet Network, covering the CH postcodes. McCarthy Haulages company secretary, Andrew Nicholson says: We decided to evaluate our position in the industry and decided that the time was right to join a pallet netwrok. We looked at all of the networks out there and found that our preferred option was UPN because of its emphasis on quality rather than volume.

Drummond joins with Pall-Ex

West-Lothian based R Drummond (Carriers) has joined Pall-Ex to serve the FK postcode area. Commercial manager at the famil firm, Damon Burns, says: We chose Pall-Ex on recommendations from other members of the network and we were impressed with the new hub. Being part of a network will allow us to offer a complete pallet delivery service throughout the UK.
This is the first time R Drummond, which operates a fleet of 60 vehicles, has been part of a network.
