DHL Romania sees 2006 turnover up 21 percent

DHL Romania, the local branch of U.S. delivery company DHL, expects its turnover to grow 21 pct on the year to over 20 mln euro (USD26.33 mln) in 2006, the company’s commercial director Bogdan Obretin said on December 29, 2006.

The company reported a turnover increase of 21 pct year-on-year for the first three quarters of 2006 due to consolidation of its position as supplier of complex logistics solutions, Obretin said.

DHL Romania competes in the country with international delivery companies TNT Romania, a subsidiary of Dutch TNT Express, Couriers Service, an authorised representative of U.S. delivery company UPS and U.S. Fedex, as well as domestic companies Fan Courier, Cargus, Alo Curier, Concorde and Pegasus.

TNT welcomes the inclusion of Bulgaria and Romania in the EU

TNT announced that it has invested significantly in Bulgaria and Romania in order to capitalize on the expansion of the EU in January 2007. Investments in new line haul connections and depots will enable TNT Express to benefit from the increase of trade between the existing EU countries and Bulgaria and Romania.

In Bulgaria, TNT Express has developed new domestic line hauls which allow offering same day export from the South-Eastern Bulgaria region as well as Central, Northern and North-Western Bulgaria. For 2007, it is planned to further develop the North Bulgaria line haul to enable same day export for the North-Eastern Bulgaria region as well.

In Romania, TNT Express is well equipped to gain from the increased trade between the EU countries. TNT has developed the largest network in Romania with three international depots in Otopeni, Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca. Investments have focused on improvement of the infrastructure and the line haul network. Transit times have been reduced from two days to one, for documents and parcels, import and exports, between Romania and all EU countries.

Romanian Courier Cargus eyes boost in 2007 Profit, Turnover

Romanian courier services provider Cargus expects a rise in its gross profit and turnover next year on the back of rising clients portfolio, a senior official told SeeNews.
“For 2007 we project a turnover of more than 25 million euro (USD32 million) and a profit of more than three million euro. The growth will be supported by the rise in the number of the clients and the widening of the services we offer,” Cargus vice-president Carmina Dumitrescu told SeeNews in a recent interview.
Cargus projects a gross profit of 2.1 million euro for the current year on an estimated turnover of 20 million euro, Dumitrescu said. The company reported a 15.3 million euro in turnover for 2005, and a gross profit of 2.46 million euro.
“Currently, Cargus has a 35% market share in Romania and up to 10% from the [country’s] international courier market,” Dumitrescu added.
