DPD announces opening of a new branch in Stavropol, Russia

DPD in Russia (Armadillo Group) has opened a new branch in Stavropol, South Region.
The branch is located in the industrial area near Staromarievkoe Chaussee, in the Eastern part of the city. With the area of 427 sq. meters the capacity of the terminal is over 5,000 parcels a day. The investment to the new branch amounted to over 1 million Roubles. The branch network of DPD in Russia covering all Russia’s regions has now increased to 27 branches linked together by a unique linehaul network as well as by a common IT system.
The new branch offers a complete range of services of DPD in Russia based on express forwarding: renowned DPD BizPak service, a unique domestic just–in-time delivery solution with unmatched financial guarantees, as well as other parcel and freight delivery services including domestic DPD Avia, DPD Economy, DPD Classic, Full Truck services, complemented by DPD Classic international delivery service.

DPD expands its business and enters the CIS markets

In response to the growing customer requirements for quality parcel and freight delivery within the CIS, DPD has taken a decision to enter the transportation logistics markets of these countries.
Partnerships with strong local players have already been formed in Kazakhstan and Ukraine; plans are in place to enter other CIS markets such as Belarus and Azerbaijan. Currently the development of an integrated road linehaul network in the CIS countries is under way. The opening of a number of branches in the CIS countries is planned, e.g. in Kazakhstan alone there will be between 9 and 12 branches by 2013.
The range and quality of transportation logistics solutions to be offered by DPD subsidiaries in the CIS will be similar to those provided in Russia.
These changes have driven the need to optimize the structure of corporate governance. Effective April 8th, Sergey Kruglov, until recently General Director of Armadillo Group, has taken up the role of CEO Russia and CIS Cluster. Nikolay Voinov was appointed Armadillo Group General Director (DPD in Russia).

DHL opens a new office in Murmansk

On the 6th of April DHL is opening its new office in Murmansk. The North-West of Russia occupies a special position on the country both in terms of economics and geography, representing a major point of interest for DHL to further develop its infrastructure. The opening of the new office will allow DHL to lay a strong foundation for the further improvement in the company’ s level of service to meet the increasing demand of customers in the Murmansk area.

Within the past few years, the North-West region has enjoyed extensive growth in shipment volumes. The number of customers has also increased. ‘The business situation in Murmansk and the Murmansk region requires us to provide the highest level of service’, says Daniel Kearvell, Area Manager DHL West Russia. ‘We opened our first office in Murmansk in 1996. Since that time our volumes have increased several times and we saw the necessity to open a new, modern office in Murmansk that could reflect our passion for quality and service excellence’.

The new office is equipped with a modern multi-channel telephone station that allows DHL customer service agents to answer all incoming customer enquiries with a 100 pct service level. An increased number of courier routes have made it possible to add an extra flight to Moscow and to serve various remote destinations in the Murmansk regions with DHL’s own resources.

Arcandor Sees Russia Becoming Top Mail-Order Market

Arcandor AG, the owner of Karstadt department stores and the Quelle catalog company, said Russia may become its largest overseas mail-order market next year as sales surge in the country.

The retailer’s annual sales in Russia may reach 1 billion euros (USD 1.58 billion) in 2013, said Marc Sommer, the head of Arcandor’s Primondo mail-order unit. Primondo’s Russian sales may rise 57 percent to USD 180 million this year and will increase by about 60 percent annually through 2010, he added.

“The mail-order market is undergoing a boom in Russia,” Sommer said today at a press conference in Moscow. “People begin to realize how convenient it is to order by catalog and get goods delivered to your home.”

Arcandor’s Russian mail-order sales have more than doubled annually since it entered the market with Quelle in 2005. Russia’s apparel and footwear market will increase by 16 percent to 37 billion euros this year and may reach 55 billion euros in 2011, Sommer said today at a company presentation.

“People are buying European fashion very eagerly,” Sommer said. Rising incomes in Russia, the world’s biggest energy supplier, fuel consumer spending and lure international companies such as Inditex SA, Europe’s largest clothing retailer, and Stockmann Oyj, a Finnish department-store company. Hennes & Mauritz AB plans first Russian stores in 2009.

Russian Post represented mid-term development program

Russian Post represented the enterprise mid-term development program at the Session of the Collegium of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the RF headed by L.D. Reiman, Minister for Communications and Information Technologies of the RF held on March, 25, 2008.

As the Minister noted, present postal structure, development and quality of services don’t meet requirements of modern economy and society, it should be considerably modernized. Post should immediately find solutions to such problem as renovation, unified process, postal employees social status.

A.I. Kazmin, Russian Post Director General represented complex of anti-crisis measures and medium-term enterprise modernization program for the period till 2011. The program already implemented in Russian Post aims at providing break even of the enterprise profits, establishing and supporting main production processes. Expenses optimization and efficient management system are among the prior measures taken by new heads of the enterprise. Post is to improve information system security, continuation of business-processes, reduce operation, technology and reputation risks. Quality improvement of services, delivery speed and security of mails is one of the key Russian Post’s goals.

Postal infrastructure modernization program will be held till 2011. It stipulates for capitalization of the enterprise at the expense of state investment support. It helps to reconstruct and provide technique equip for post offices, renovate transport and improve logistics, develop banking services infrastructure and other.
