Russian Post boosts image in cyberspace

The Russian Post is now opening a completely new page in its history. These were the words of Igor Syrtsov, general director of the postal service that has traditionally been seen as a weak state system unable to seriously affect how its work is organized and famous for considerably low service quality.

Syrtsov spoke of revamping the Russian Post at the unveiling of its CyberMoney project. The project, officially launched late last month, forms a unified federal system of electronic postal money orders and was initiated by the Communications Ministry and the Electronic Russia program.

New DHL Express center opening in Moscow

DHL Company is opening a new express-center in Moscow in Novinsky Boulevard in February. The fact that the center will be situated near the US Embassy to Russia will allow DHL clients to economize time while sending documents with the aim of getting immigration visas.
According to DHL press-service, the new express-center will be notable both for the range of services rendered and the level of technical equipment.

Russia Postal Services’ revenues seen up 15%-20% in 2003

The revenues from Russia’s postal services rose 15%-20% on the year to 30 billion rubles in 2003 according to preliminary data, the general director of the state-owned Russian Post company Igor Syrtsov told reporters.

Currently, Russian Post operates in 25 out of Russia’s 89 regions, while in other regions there are regional post service departments, which are expected to join Russian Post by the second quarter of this year, he said.

Russian Anti-Monopoly Ministry against licensing postal services

The Russian Anti-Monopoly Ministry believes that licensing of postal services is not expedient, Ilya Yuzhanov, the ministry’s head, declared at a meeting of the ministry’s board devoted to the competitiveness on the market of postal services and outlooks for its development amid reforms in this sector. According to the minister, activities in this sector do not endanger the life and health of citizens, so there is no need to license them.
