Saudi Post and Siemens sign contract to develop postal services

The Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Eng. Mohammed Jamil Mulla, who is the chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Postal Corporation, signed in Riyadh recently a contract with Siemens International Company to develop and upgrade the Saudi postal operations. The contract, worth SR 50 million, includes, among other things, enhancing the Saudi post competitive capabilities and auto processing of incoming and outgoing mail items in the Kingdom.

Restructuring of Saudi Postal Services under way

President of the Saudi Postal Corporation Mohammed Saleh Benton has announced that the country’s postal operations would be turned into a joint stock company under the name of Saudi Postal Services Corp. Benton also said that the post office in downtown Jeddah on King Abdul Aziz Street will now be open on Fridays to make it convenient for the citizens to send their mail from there. He said that the Wassel service, which is a program to deliver mails to residences, has not been activated yet even though many residences have received their mailboxes.
