Spanish Courier Industry Forecasts 4.465 Bln Euro Turnover for 2003

Spanish courier industry forecasts a 4.465 bln euro ($5.048 bln) turnover for 2003, up 8.8 pct year-on-year, Spanish consultancy DBK said.

The forecast year-on-year increase in turnover for 2004 stands at 10 pct. Delivery of business parcels will register a 9.5 pct year-on-year rise in turnover in 2003. The turnover from delivery of business parcels is expected to rise by 10.7 pct year-on-year to 2.96 bln euro ($3.346 bln) in 2004. Delivery of industrial parcels will register a 7.7 pct increase in turnover in 2003 and 8.9 pct in 2004.

Seur Portugal Sees 14 Pct Y/Y Turnover Increase 2003

Seur Portugal, the local unit of Spanish express courier company Seur, expects to generate a turnover for 2003 up by 14 pct from 22.6 mln euro ($24.6 mln) for 2002, company’s general director Roberto Abarca said on March 13, 2003.

Seur Portugal’s target in terms of turnover confirms the accent on the Portuguese market and the expansion strategy of the Spanish company on the international market, Abarca said. In the Portuguese market, which currently accounts for nearly 5.0 pct of Seur’s annual turnover, Seur Portugal will invest 20.8 mln euro ($22.6 mln), of which 19.2 mln euro ($20.9 mln) in the development of its activities.

Spanish Seur Posts 455.85 Mln Euro Turnover for 2002

Spanish express courier group Seur posted a 455.85 mln euro ($503 mln) turnover for 2002, up 6.2 pct year-on-year, Seur said on March 11, 2003.

Seur targets an over 8.0 pct year-on-year rise in turnover for 2003. Seur staff rose by 4.6 pct year-on-year to 7,773 in 2002. Seur operated with 3,887 vehicles in 2002, a 4.7 pct year-on-year increase. Seur introduced an express delivery service for frozen products in the middle of September 2002.

Spanish Seur To Invest 20 Mln Euro in Portugal 2003

Spanish distribution and logistics company Seur plans to invest some 20 mln euro ($22 mln) in Portugal in 2003, the company said on March 7, 2003.

The company generated 6.0 pct of its turnover in Portugal and forecast its operations in the country to account for 10 pct of its turnover in 2004, at the end of 2001.
