TNT Logistics secures MAN Nutzfahrzeuge contract for spare parts logistics

TNT Logistics Central & Eastern Europe is the new logistics partner for the pan-European spare parts logistics of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, Europe’s leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles. As part of the European Logistics Concept, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG is restructuring its entire European spare parts logistics operation. The future distribution of fast moving goods will occur through six regional warehouses (ELCs). TNT Logistics will be responsible for the development and operation of the three ELCs in Italy, the UK and Northern Germany as well as the transport of spare parts in Italy, the UK, Northern Germany, Scandinavia, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium. The transport services essentially comprise overnight delivery of urgent orders and same-day deliveries. The overall concept will accelerate the delivery of spare parts to the European workshops and reduce the MAN Group’s stocks.

Postkantoren BV and TNT Logistics sign contract

Postkantoren B.V. and TNT Benelux & Multi Country Logistics have signed a new contract. Spearhead of the contract is the consolidation of various product flows at the TNT site in Maarssen, the Netherlands. Postkantoren B.V. is a joint venture between TNT N.V. and ING N.V. The company owns the Bruna chain of stores. Postkantoren has 800 sites in the Netherlands, 500 of which are franchised postal agents and 300 self-owned.
Consumers are offered a wide range of products, from cinema vouchers, moped licences and lottery tickets to fishing permits and bus and tram cards. Postkantoren last year decided to assign these products to three main logistics flows.

TNT Logistics grows 900% in Asia

TNT announced today that its logistics business in Asia has grown a massive 900% in the past five years. The company also announced the appointment of Colin Moran as managing director for TNT Logistics in Asia to lead the company’s logistics operations in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines. “The logistics sector in Asia has grown tremendously in the past five years, but there’s even more room to grow,” said Moran. “In Asia, the percentage of logistics outsourced to third party logistics providerslike TNT is less than 5% of total logistics spend. This is far less than the 30% share 3PLs command in developed countries like the US and Europe.”

TNT Logistics and Italian RCS Libri extend contract

TNT Logistics, a unit of Dutch mail, express and logistics company TNT NV, has renewed its contract for the outsourcing of logistics activities with Italian publisher RCS Libri for six years. Under the terms of the contract, TNT Logistics will provide RCS Libri with storage and distribution services for books, ensuring the launch of new initiatives across the country, guaranteeing the distribution of stocks to bookshops and secondary warehouses, and taking responsibility for the collection and management of returned unsold copies of general and scholastic books published by RCS Libri.

Manhattan Associates(R), Inc. , the global leader in providing supply chain execution and optimization solutions, licensed its Labor Management and Slotting Optimization solutions to TNT Logistics North America, Inc., a leading provider of supply chain logistics services. The purchase of these solutions will enhance TNT’s manufacturing support services and will further increase efficiency and cost-savings in its supply chain processes through integration with other components of Manhattan Associates’ Integrated Logistics Solutions(TM) already deployed at TNT.

With the Labor Management solution, TNT will measure the work performed in its distribution centers using detailed information about employees’ schedules and activities. TNT can analyze the information against various standards and initiatives, facilitating the deployment and tracking of value-added programs such as incentive-based pay. The Slotting Optimization solution will increase efficiency of TNT’s facilities by determining the most beneficial and ergonomic placement of pickline items using genetic algorithms.
