TNT Logistics expands Rolls-Royce connection in the UK

TNT Logistics in the UK has won a five year contract with the naval marine business of Rolls-Royce to warehouse and distribute materiel (equipment and material) used in the repair and maintenance of marine gas turbine engines. The 2100 sqm facility at Castle Donington in Leicestershire, has been developed alongside a TNT Logistics cross-dock operation which handles materiel for aircraft engines produced by Rolls-Royce. The two companies have been working together for five years.

TNT Logistics wins DaimlerChrysler contract

DaimlerChrysler UK Limited has awarded TNT Logistics a five year, multi-million pound contract to manage aftermarket distribution of the group’s automotive parts throughout the UK. The group’s product portfolio incorporates Mercedes-Benz: passenger cars, commercial vehicles and Unimog; Chrysler: passenger cars; Jeep: passenger cars; smart: passenger cars and Mitsubishi: commercial vehicles (Canter). The contract, involving distribution of spare parts to around 300 dealers nationwide, will commence in April 2005. It will operate from DaimlerChrysler’s European Logistics Centre (ELC) and central distribution facility in Milton Keynes. TNT Logistics will utilise its extensive support network to facilitate the operation.

Dutch TPG sees improvement of logistics activities in France

Dutch mail, express and logistics company TPG NV expects an improvement of its logistics activities in France in the next few years, the managing director of TNT Logistics, TPG’s logistics unit, David Kulik, said on November 19, 2004.
TNT Logistics activities in France will be loss-making in 2004 and 2005, however 2004 will be a better year than 2003, and 2005 will be better than 2004, Kulik said. This will be mainly a result of a cost reduction. Kulik did not say when a break-even result will be achieved in France.

Dutch OM demands 59,000 Euro fine from TNT Logistics

Dutch Public Prosecutor (OM) demanded a fine of some 59,000 euro (USD76,600) to be imposed on TNT Logistics, the express and logistics arm of the Dutch postal, express and logistics company TPG NV, for customs regulations infringements, it was reported on November 15, 2004. According to an OM official, TNT Logistics have made incomplete customs reports and it has performed shipments without the necessary customs clearance. Dutch customs officers registered a total of 109 infringements of TNT Logistics in a 14-months period. The national tax authority, the Belastingdienst, has imposed a fine of 453 euro (USD588) for each single infringement of the company.

TPG unit TNT Logistics dismisses head of French ops

TPG NV unit TNT Logistics has dismissed Reynald Huck, the head of its French operations, due to ‘continuing problems’ at the unit, a spokeswoman said. Huck, who held the position for just under a year, will be replaced by Georges Ruiz of TNT Express. TPG has long suffered financial problems in France due to stiff competition. The group said it cannot rule out a complete withdrawal from the country.
