TNT looks at own air services for far east

TNT, the express courier and logistics company owned by Dutch postal group TPG, is considering the possibility of using its own freighter aircraft on some regional and transcontinental services following the Sars outbreak. TNT formally launches partnership with China Post

Dutch forwarding service TNT Express has formally launched a partnership with China Post following the end of its 15-year old ties with Sinotrans Ltd, the Shanghai Daily reported.

An agreement was signed on April 25 to form a strategic partnership and to set up a team to explore possible areas of cooperation in postal services, express delivery and logistics, the report said.

TNT enters contract in Brazil with Braskem

The Dutch company TNT Logistics has recently inked a unprecedented contract in Brazil. For the first time, TNT will be responsible for the production logistics of a petrochemicals company. The company entered a deal with the Brazilian Braskem, the largest petrochemicals company in Latin America, to operate along the production chain at two units – OPP and Polialden (who produce polyethylene). TNT aims to conquer other similar contracts since it will be present at the Camacari petrochemicals complex (Bahia). To perform the logistics services, TNT will use 2.5 – 4 m tons forklift trucks and some tools developed for this means, besides hiring 100 people.
