Two senior appointments to drive DHL's Middle East growth

DHL today announced two key senior appointments to its Middle East and UAE teams – David Wild has become DHL Middle East’s Commercial Director and Janet Jweihan has been appointed in as General Manager for the UAE.

David Wild, who has served as DHL UAE’s General Manager for six years, has been appointed Area Commercial Director taking responsibility for 13 countries throughout the Middle East and Levant. The 24-year DHL veteran has been responsible for expanding DHL’s operations in the UAE and driving record revenue growth during his period. He will be based in Dubai.

Janet Jweihan, has been with DHL for nearly two decades, and will spearhead and strategise the company’s future expansion plans in the UAE as the country’s new General Manager. Succeeding Wild and bringing a wealth of experience, Jweihan was Country Manager of DHL in Kuwait for the past five years. She recently relocated to Dubai after leading her team in Kuwait to the title of Country of the Year award twice, establishing Kuwait as one of the DHL leader countries across the region in terms of operations’ growth.

Postal Benchmarking Club successfully launched at the UPU Strategy Conference in Dubai

Triangle was able to successfully launch its Postal Benchmarking Club during the recent UPU Strategy Conference in Dubai. The inaugural group of small and medium size Post Offices, ranging from Malta to South Africa, will meet for the first time in the New Year via telephone conferencing.

Triangle will be coordinating the Club and it is expected that in time the group will develop into various sub-divisions of interest. “Triangle is a long established research company based in the UK but operating worldwide, and is well placed to develop this much needed initiative for the mail and postal world”, said Paul Jackson, Chairman of Triangle. “We will be commissioning research where appropriate, and we are confident that this important new venture will attract a sizeable membership that will grow as the word spreads and more Post Offices become involved.”

Dubai Custom works with DHL to create groundbreaking integration solution

Dubai Custom and DHL today officially announced the launch of an integration solution to facilitate a faster clearance process of global import consignments in the UAE.

The revolutionary system incorporates Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), which allows express and logistics companies to send shipment information electronically and receive Customs clearance within minutes.

Commenting on the launch, Bachi Spiga, DHL Area Operations Director Middle East, said:

‘The implementation of this integration solution will provide total customs-clearance and real-time visibility into regional and global trade processes.’

‘Unless there is a need to seek clarification, all transactions will be cleared on the same day. Customs automated feedback over declaration of inbound shipments indicates three possibilities; cleared, on hold or failed depending on the individual status,’ said Mohammed Al Rasasi, Project Manager, Dubai Customs.
