Non-postal services register huge demand at Emirates Posts

The non-postal services at Emirates Post’s post-offices have generated a huge response in recent months because customers can avail of multiple services under one roof at a location closest to their workplace or home. Among the services that have generated good demand are DEWA and SEWA bill payment, Sharjah Medical District services, Western Union money transfer, Dubai Municipality’s parking cards and ETISALAT’s Wasel and pre-paid cards. “We have recently signed agreements with different government organisations to offer their services through our post-office network, as part of a strategic plan to transform post-offices into one-stop centres for multiple services,” said Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General, Emirates Post.

UAE Door-to-door postal service in six months

Door-to-door postal delivery service will get under way in the UAE within six months, once the logistical arrangements are in place and Emirate Post has successfully matched the market requirements with the operational costs of the service to suit the customers’ pockets. Speaking to “Khaleej Times”, Abdullah Al Daboor, Director General of Emirates Post, said the feasibility report on the door-to-door postal service is ready. “One thing is clear that the people in the UAE have expressed the need for door-to-door postal service which is some ways already exist in the form of home and office delivery of several government documents by Emirates Post and its subsidiary company Empost.

Emirates Post expands postal network to 76 post offices

Emirates Post has expanded its network of post-offices to 76, with the opening of two new post offices on Jumeirah Road and Al Aweer this week, to meet the rising demand for postal and retail services in these areas. ‘The new post offices are in line with Emirates Post’s strategy of developing architecturally elegant and visitor-friendly post-offices in order to create a pleasing ambience for customers,’ added Mr. Al Shaya. ‘At the same time, this reflects our drive to expand our post office network. We have now increased our network to 76 post offices, covering both the urban and far-flung rural areas of the UAE. This is a tremendous growth from just 55 post offices in 1990.’
