Hays blames difficult market as results drop to $225m

Hays Group, the UK-based business services, mail and logistics group, blamed difficult market conditions for a 11% fall in pre-tax profits to £147.6m ($225m). The Hays mail and express division, specialising in business to business mail delivery, saw operating profits of £50.2m, down by £1.1m. Turnover rose by 3% to £249.8m.

200 new jobs in Irish postal automation

Ireland’s state-backed An Post postal company is to create 200 jobs as part of a #60 million (euro97 million) mail automation programme.

Of the new posts, 135 will be at an automated mail centre in Athlone, Co Westmeath, and the rest in Portlaoise, Co Laois.

ANC moves West Midlands depot

ANC has moved its West Midlands depot to a larger 600sq metre facility in Kingswinford, adding 30 jobs. MD Mick Dowling said the move would make ANC “the major force in the parcels industry” for the area.
