A recent Client Satisfaction Survey initiated by The Quality Standard for Mail Production (QMP) inchcated that 90% of the 6003 clients interviewed were likely to use direct mail in the future. Most clients were satisfied with their mailing house, with 77% opting to stick with their current supplier.

Amazon UK success helped by Royal Mail's overnight delivery

It was fascinating to read Jeff Bezos explaining why Amazon.com was successful in Britain (How to turn over a new leaf, February 9). “In the UK the Royal Mail does a fantastic job of overnight delivery to something like 85% of UK addresses and that’s just standard shipping. Here you have to pay expensive UPS or Fedex shipping to get overnight service.”

Consignia facing £800M pension shortfall

POST Office operator Consignia could face a pension fund shortfall of £800m if it presses ahead with plans to cut 30,000 jobs, it has been claimed.
The company, currently losing more than £1m per day, may have to pump a further £600m into its funds this year to make up a financial black hole. The claims, which have been dismissed as “alarmist” by Consignia, are detailed in a 50-page document by accountant Arthur Andersen.
