TNT has awarded Astec Conveyors a contract to design a reversible materials handling system as its new £8.2 million Birmingham depot. According to TNT, this is the first operation in the UK to be fitted with a high tech hub-style sorting system.

TNT Network Logistics has long standing experience in operating primary consolidation centres for multiple retailers. The Somerfield operation is based at TNT’s 300,000 sq ft multi-user facility at Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, which already focuses on services to the grocery trade. Other clients include Del Monte, Daybreak Foods and Hipp Baby Food.
