Express giants united into commission

Last weekend, the International Express Commission formally announced its birth. There are 12 companies engaging in international express delivery in China joining the Commission.

Among those companies, there are international express giants such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, and TNT. These companies have set up joint ventures with SINOTRANS. Domestic express companies are also joining, such as China Air Express, China Railway Express Transportation, EAS Express, and COSCO Logistics. However, China Post EMS is not in the name list.

Ottawa claims UPS lawsuit under NAFTA has narrowed

UPS will be allowed to continue its $230-million NAFTA case over what it says are unfair business practices by Canada Post Corp., but a tribunal threw out parts of the claim yesterday. United Parcel Service says it will retool the complaint and keep the entire case alive, while government officials said they believe the tribunal decision significantly narrows the grounds on which UPS can proceed.
