FedEx cash flow from operations reaches seven year high

CashFlowNews.com reports that Cash Flow from Operations for FedEx Corporation for its twelve months ended August 31, 2004 was USD3,184,000,000, a 62percent increase over the year earlier same twelve months when FedEx generated USD1,963,000,000 in Cash Flow from Operations. Cash Flow from Operations for the most recent twelve months also reached a seven year high.

For FedEx’s quarter ended August 31, 2004 Cash Flow from Operations was USD737,000,000, compared with USD573,000,000, a 29percent increase over the comparable year earlier quarter. FedEx has generated six consecutive quarters of positive Cash Flow from Operations. Cash Flow from Operations for the most recent quarter also reached a eight year high.

Deutsche Post shares plummet over North American woes

Deutsche Post shares dropped sharply on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange Wednesday after the company said that its U.S. operations will remain in the red for a year longer than was originally estimated.

Just after noontime, Deutsche Post shares were about 3.3 per cent lower at 15.94 euros – a drop which was running counter to the overall rise of 1.1 per cent on the 30-share DAX.

The negative response by investors came despite an assurance by Deutsche Post that its earnings this year would not be affected because of an upturn in Asia and in other business operations.

DHL’s USD53m tax-credit package gets final ok

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority gave its final approval Monday to the tax-incentive package that lured DHL to move its air cargo sorting operations from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to Wilmington, Ohio. The tax deal was initially announced in June.

The Ohio tax board awarded DHL and ABX Air Inc., which operates DHL’s hub in Wilmington, more than USD53 million in tax credits to expand and retain its operations there and to stay at the Clinton County site for 30 years.

The Ohio Department of Development said DHL is expected to create 600 new jobs in Wilmington within three years. The company will receive a 90 percent job-creation tax credit for five years and an additional 70 percent credit for 10 years after that. It also gets a 75 percent tax credit for 10 years for retaining 2,886 existing jobs there.

UPS Mail Innovations, the business mail services unit of UPS, today announced its international mail services to help US businesses more quickly and efficiently move mail destined for international locations. Through relationships with a portfolio of global postal authorities, UPS Mail Innovations processes US-outbound business mail and transports it to postal authorities for final delivery to addresses in more than 200 countries. UPS Mail Innovations now offers international mail services thanks in large part to its April 2004 acquisition of the assets of OMNIsort International Inc. UPS Mail Innovations also provides domestic US mail logistics through its work-share relationship with the US Postal Service.

Stamps.com’s personalised postage could be canceled

Stamps.com has said that it was in ‘active discussions’ with the U.S. Postal Service, which could lead to suspension of its nearly seven-week-old test of sales of personalized postage stamps.

The company also canceled a publicized appearance Thursday at a technology investors’ conference in San Francisco.

Shares of Los Angeles-based Stamps.com fell almost 13 percent in midday trading.
