Fedex chairman sold 100,000 shares

Frederick Smith, FedEx Corp. chairman, sold 100,000 shares of stock in the world’s biggest air-express firm, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing yesterday. Mr. Smith had previously indicated in a filing with the SEC that he may sell up to 200,000 shares for a total of about US$10.6-million. Mr. Smith sold the shares on Dec. 19 at prices ranging from US$53.59 to SUS$54 a share, the SEC filing showed. He directly held about 15.7 million shares and indirectly held another 4.1 million shares.

The company had more than 298 million common shares outstanding as of the end of September.

Former Lucent CFO to join Citigroup as top strategist

Citigroup Inc’s revolving door has spun again, ushering in the second senior female executive and second former telecommunications manager to join the company since October.

Citi said Tuesday that it had hired Deborah C. Hopkins, a consultant and a former chief financial officer of Lucent Technologies, to head corporate strategy. Ms. Hopkins, 48, will also join the management committee.

Sanford I. Weill, Citi’s chairman and chief executive, has been reshaping his 46-person management committee for some time, and many of the moves have been reactions to probes from regulators about conflicts of interests in the company’s investment bank.

R.R. Donnelley Logistics to Open Large, Fully-Automated Distribution Facility In York

R.R. Donnelley Logistics, a leader in print, mail and package distribution, is enhancing its consolidation and distribution network by opening a 670,000 square foot facility in York, PA. The move is part of the company’s business strategy to continuously improve service and expand capacity to support the rapidly increasing demand for its services.

The new “Super Center” will be completed in a phased approach. In phase one, the new facility will combine R.R. Donnelley Logistics package operations in the Northeastern region of the United States. Customers in the Northeast will see their home delivery service improve by up to two days within the region, and one day for the balance of the country.
