A memorandum on mutual understanding is signed between the Kyrgyz Government and World Post Union

Yesterday a memorandum on mutual understanding between the Kyrgyz Government and the World Post Union is signed in Bishkek. Director general of the International Bureau of the World Post Union Thomas Edward Levy and deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Transport and Communications Kubanychbek Jumaliev are signed the memorandum. The memorandum considers the cooperation of the Kyrgyz Government and World Post Union in the sphere of modernization, development of post communications of Kyrgyzstan. In particular, the WPU undertakes to render assistance in issues of preparing projects and searching foreign investments for their implementation and for development of post links of Kyrgyzstan. According to K. Jumaliev, the required sum of investments for modernization of the post makes about 3 million US Dollars.

La Poste creates exclusive offer for major clients

Yesterday a new range of products was presented at a board meeting at La Poste, the French national postal services group. “Tempost” is aimed exclusively at the group’s major clients, the industrial parcel delivery firms, which generate about 30 per cent of La Poste’s total turnover from parcel delivery (10bn euros).
La Poste is promising 95 per cent service quality, and has undertaken to pay compensation if it falls below this target. A discount system is also under consideration. There have been objections to the plan from the SUD-PTT union, which says it will create a two-tier, unfair system in which industrial parcel delivery will be given priority at the expense of ordinary users.
