NZ Post management deal in S Africa ends

New Zealand Post subsidiary Transend has finally ended its strife-plagued South African postal management contract.

FedEx, DHL take time over surcharge

AIR express cargo operators Federal Express and DHL are adopting a wait-and-see approach on whether to impose a surcharge on freight shipments following last month’s terrorist air attacks in the United States.

TNT, a subsidiary of the European air cargo and logistics group TPG, said a “small supplement will be introduced worldwide in a phased approach” to support additional service and security measures. A TNT spokesman said the extra checks include the x-raying of all shipments, enhanced security controls and some restrictions on the acceptance of consignments.

Neopost announces the acquisition of Ascom Hasler, the Ascom Mailing Systems Division

Neopost, the European leader and number two worldwide supplier of mailing
solutions, today announced the acquisition of the number three worldwide
supplier of mailing systems : Ascom Hasler, the Mailing Systems Division of
the Swiss group Ascom.
The acquisition price has been set at Swiss Francs 359 million (around Euros
240 million), subject to final adjustments at closing. The completion of the
transaction is still subject, amongst other things, to governmental
authorisations.

Danzas teams up with Royal Cargo

Logistics solutions provider Danzas has signed a joint venture agreement with logistics company Royal Cargo Corporation (RCC) in the Philippines. (10/4/2001)

RCC will be integrated into the Danzas Intercontinental Business Unit in the Philippines and form a new entity called Danzas AEI Inc. With the joint venture, Danzas AEI Inc. will provide logistics services for both incoming and outgoing cargo.
