Palletways links hubs with IT and Trunking

Palletways passed a landmark last week as it linked its UK hub in Lichfield with its hub in Nijmegen, which serves Benelux, Germany and Denmark.
The near-identical computer systems of the two networks were plugged into each other and a scheduled trunking service started operating for the first time. One- and two- pallet consignments are the core traffic.

Finland Post Corporation to acquire Swedish logistics company

Finnish state-owned postal and logistics services provider Finland Post Corporation (Suomen Posti Oyj) said on Wednesday (1 February) that it is acquiring the Swedish logistics company Roadlink Spedition AB. Roadlink Spedition has an annual turnover of EUR25m and it has four outlets with terminals based in Stockholm, Malmo, Gothenburg and Jonkoping. The acquisition price was not disclosed.

Swiss MailSource takes Over US Forrest Solutions

Swiss mailroom management solutions provider MailSource, owned by Swiss postal carrier Schweizer Post, will fully take over US sector company Forrest Solutions Inc, MailSource said on January 27, 2006. MailSource will pay a two-digit sum in million for the New York-based enterprise. Forrest Solutions (www.forrestsolutions.com), active in the field of mailroom and recruiting services generates an annual average turnover of USD44 mln (36.3 mln euro). Among its customers are banks, law firms, publishing houses and advertising companies in the New York region.
