Ghana Post Re-Launches “Swift Post”

The Ghana Post has re-launched a product under the name Swift Post in Accra to improve upon the company’s delivery service in the country.

Speaking at the re-launch, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Post, Prof. Robert Addo Fenning, said customer satisfaction had become a key issue in the service industry in Ghana hence the need for a re-launch the product.

He said the product was re-launched to serve customers better by responding to their needs and preferences as well as making the company’s products attractive and readily accessible.

He said the name Swift Post had been adopted in place of Domestic Parcel as an assurance of speedy transmission and delivery. However, the product had not received the expected patronage as a result of public dissatisfaction with the tardy arrival of parcels at their intended destinations.

The company, he said, was in competition with several organisations in the parcel delivery business, and urged management to work in close partnership with workers of all levels of responsibility, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust to make the product successful.

The Deputy Managing Director of the company, Mr Samuel Asare also said that the competitive environment in which the company finds itself made it difficult for the company to become “more effective, more modern, and more competitive as well”.

He said the company lacked public awareness of the existence of its service and public confidence in the promptness of its delivery, thereby giving poor service to its customers.

He also said the market share of physical mail of the company had also dropped as a result of diversion of the electronic media and the growing competition from other communication service providers.

In order to find solutions to some of these problems, the Swift Post parcel had been identified as a potential product of the company that would contribute greatly to the growth of the company, he said.

He therefore urged the employees of the company to put much effort in the delivery of service to the company’s customers. The delivery standard of Swift Post is 24 hours for the southern sector and 72hours for the northern sector
