La Poste names new head for Exapaq

La Poste has named Alexis Ruset as the new president of Exapaq, the French B2B parcels carrier that its express parcels division GeoPost acquired earlier this year. Ruset remains a director-general of GeoPost, a post he has held since 2001.

The French postal group announced in February that it had authorised GeoPost to finalise the acquisition of the Exapaq network, which is operated by 15 regional companies. The acquisition would reinforce the position of GeoPost as the leading French parcels operator, and would complement the offerings of express subsidiary Chronopost, it said. Exapaq, which is specialised in business-to-business transport of domestic parcels up to 30kg, carries 32 million parcels a year and generated revenues of €194 million in 2004. The network covers five national hubs, 52 regional depots and 1,800 branches.
