Polish Poczta Polska to Build Forwarding Centre
Polish state-owned postal company Poczta Polska will build a large dispatching and distribution centre in Lisi Ogon, near Bydgoszcz, northwestern Poland, by 2007, it was reported on May 30, 2006.
The location of the premises has been chosen because of its proximity to highways and an international airport, Poczta Polska spokesman, Radoslaw Kazimierski said. The centre will employ some 700.
Lisi Ogon has already attracted investments from other sector companies, such as local parcel delivery company General Logistics Systems Poland (GLS Poland), formerly known as Szybka Paczka, 74.9 pct owned by Dutch logistics group Raben. The regional authorities are in talks with other sector companies that could invest in the area.
The project has not been awarded to building contractors yet.
[Editor’s note: Polish government plans several large bourse offerings of state-owned companies in the next two years, including postal services group Poczta Polska, Poland’s largest insurer Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen (PZU) and national carrier Polish Airlines LOT (PLL LOT), the Polish News Digest reporte on May 17, 2006.]
