Austrian Post: we are creating an even more powerful e-commerce ecosystem

Austrian Post AG today successfully completed the closing of the acquisition of 70 % of the Bulgarian e-commerce service provider euShipments.com AD.

The purchase price is 55 million euros, and Swiss Post also has an option to acquire the remaining 30 percent within the next four years. With the acquisition of a majority stake in the leading cross-border and fulfillment provider in Southeastern and Eastern Europe, Swiss Post is strategically expanding its e-commerce business and strengthening its position as an integrated e-commerce service provider in a fast-growing region.

Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG: “With the closing, we are taking an important step in the implementation of our LEAD 2030 growth strategy. Together with euShipments.com, we are creating an even more powerful e-commerce ecosystem that supports retailers along their international value chain. The resulting synergies open up additional development opportunities for us in a region that is showing enormous momentum for online retail.”

Peter Umundum, Deputy Director General, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG: “With euShipments.com, we have an innovative solution that connects small and medium-sized enterprises to a wide variety of e-commerce portals quickly and easily via a single interface. In this way, we give retailers direct access to markets in Southeastern and Eastern Europe and, if desired, Western Europe. This seamlessness in cross-border e-commerce is a real added value and an important step towards providing online shops with the best possible support for international growth.”

Svetlozar Dimitrov, CEO, euShipments.com: “With the successful closing of this transaction, we are entering a new phase of strategic development for euShipments.com. My team and I firmly believe that together with Austrian Post, we will be able to rapidly advance the company’s business activities, further expand our fulfillment network and offer even greater added value to the online retailers we serve. By optimizing network connectivity, improving operational efficiency, and accelerating service innovation, we will enable our customers to increase their competitiveness in their active online markets. At the same time, together with euShipments, they can confidently sell and deliver online to new markets – including opportunities beyond the EU.”
