Bpost “reaffirms its commitment to sustainable employment”

The management of Bpost and the social partners concluded a new collective labour agreement (CLA) today in the joint committee, which will remain in effect until the end of 2027. This agreement is an important step toward further securing the company’s future. The CLA provides guarantees to both employees and the company itself, despite the difficult economic and financial context.

In particular, it reaffirms job security and protection against compulsory redundancies, as well as measures to increase purchasing power (such as the increase in meal vouchers and the one-time bonus linked to the results of 2026 and 2027) and the maintenance of compensation for efforts during the year-end period. Other elements include agreements concerning internal re-employment, leave days or end-of-career arrangements.

A number of elements in the collective labour agreement are linked to the new work organization proposed as part of the transformation within the letter and parcel distribution department. Management has taken into account feedback from employees and trade unions; for example, the new starting times for mail carriers program adjusted from 2:00 to 1:45 hour, with the possibility of local variations, and additional flexibility is offered for starting times under the new transport plan.

All parties understand necessity of the transformation Bpost is undergoing from a traditional postal operator to a competitive parcel company in order to safeguard Bpost’s market position and ensure the company’s future.

Chris Peeters, CEO of Bpost: “This collective labour agreement provides clarity and guarantees, both for our employees and for the company. We have listened to the concerns and expectations of our people and have included important measures to address them, including an increase in the value of the meal vouchers. With this agreement, Bpost reaffirms its commitment to high-quality and sustainable employment for all employees. Despite the challenging financial context, we are paying particular attention to strengthening their purchasing power. At the same time, this collective labour agreement gives Bpost the necessary flexibility to remain a healthy and future-oriented company, capable of responding agilely to the expectations of customers and citizens. This is also at the heart of our transformation: building a sustainable future for both our company and our employees.”
