Tyrol Postal Services Set for Expansion
Österreichische Post AG is pressing ahead with its investment and infrastructure offensive in Tyrol.
With a dense network of 274 post offices, investments in logistics and infrastructure, and the gradual switch to electric delivery by 2030, Austrian Post is consistently continuing its expansion course in Tyrol. Since 2020, Austrian Post has invested around 80 million euros in Tyrol, with a further 10 million euros planned for the coming years. Together with the state of Tyrol and the Tyrolean Association of Municipalities, Austrian Post today presented a 5-point plan for this purpose.
Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG: “Tyrol is a clear land of the future for us. We are investing in a strong and nationwide network, in modern locations, in our local partners and in the gradual switch to electric delivery by 2030. With the 5-point plan, we are reaffirming our goal of securing the postal service in Tyrol in the long term and at the same time further expanding it.”
With the 5-point plan for Tyrol, which was developed together with the state of Tyrol and the Tyrolean Association of Municipalities, Austrian Post is underlining its long-term course for the province. The plan includes:
- Continuation of the post office offensive
- No closure of post offices without replacement
- Support for postal partners in optimising the use of resources
- Further development of the commission model
- Commitment to high delivery quality – further acceleration of parcels
Anton Mattle, Governor of Tyrol: “The province of Tyrol is one of the regions that has not yet been affected by the phenomenon of rural exodus. In order for life in the countryside in Tyrol to continue to be possible and attractive, many pieces of the mosaic are needed that interlock. We also see a basic structure of postal services as part of this strategy – even though Austrian Post’s tasks are constantly evolving. I am therefore very pleased that together with the Tyrolean Association of Municipalities and Österreichische Post AG, the postal closures can be stopped, new post offices can be created and the conditions for postal partners can be improved.”
Karl-Josef Schubert, President of the Tyrolean Association of Municipalities and Mayor of the market town of Vomp: “For the Tyrolean municipalities, a reliable postal service is much more than an infrastructural service – it is a significant contribution to the quality of life, local supply and the equivalence of living conditions throughout the country. Especially in rural areas and in the Tyrolean valleys, strong and lasting solutions are needed so that local people can rely on short distances and good services.”
