Austrian Post “pursuing a clear international expansion strategy”

Austrian Post AG is acquiring 100 percent of the Serbian parcel service provider D Express. Employees, customer contracts and the infrastructure, consisting of a logistics center and 27 delivery bases, are to be taken over. With its 100 percent subsidiary City Express, Austrian Post has been successfully active in the Serbian market for many years and is one of the established parcel service providers there.

The transaction is intended to combine the strengths of D Express and City Express in a joint company. This will create one of Serbia’s leading private parcel service providers with an even stronger market position and further growth opportunities.

Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The closing of the transaction is subject to all regulatory approvals.

Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG: “Austrian Post is pursuing a clear international expansion strategy: We want to grow in markets where we can create real added value with our own expertise and strong local presence. The acquisition of D Express is an important step for us to further advance the internationalization of our parcel business and to sustainably expand our position in Southeastern Europe.”

Peter Umundum, Deputy Director General, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG: “D Express brings a strong operational foundation, including its own logistics center in Belgrade, a nationwide network with 27 delivery bases, over 300 parcel stations and a lot of experience in daily logistics. Together with City Express, we can gradually link our networks and combine our strengths, which will ultimately benefit all customers.”
