Gebrüder Weiss: excellent investment

The Austrian transport and logistics provider Gebrüder Weiss, based in Lauterach, showed excellent results for the last financial year. The operating result improved by 125% to EUR 20.5 million. Turnover also showed an impressive 11% increase to 502 million. The company management has attributed this success to timely investments in modern technology such as tracking & tracing and warehouse administration via the Internet. During the current financial year, Gebrüder Weiss mainly intends to expand to Eastern European countries. On April 1 it took over a majority stake in the forwarding firm Cargolog, located in Bulgaria and Romania. The companies are now operating under their new name «Cargolog Weiss». Following developments in Southeast Europe the gates are wide open for the Lauterach forwarder to penetrate markets in Macedonia, Moldavia and the Black Sea region. The company expects this will enable it to double its business volumes within the next four years.
