Jersey Post launches ship2me service

The trial is now complete and the service will be available to Islanders from next week. Eighty-five per cent of the 500 people who participated in a three-month trial of the service said the most important aspect was the ability to buy online from retailers outside the bailiwicks who do not deliver goods to the Channel Islands.

At present, islanders’ retail choices are restricted to what is available in the local markets, as over 60% of UK online retailers do not deliver goods outside the UK, leaving the purchaser to arrange shipment or to use their own transport.

Ship2me is designed to open access for Channel Islanders to shopping choice and value from ‘High Street’ and online retailers throughout the UK and EU, removing the need for individual purchasers to organise delivery. Ship2me will also help shoppers reclaim VAT and have successfully trialled the reclaim process with retailers.

One-hundred per cent of the respondents rated the overall service good to excellent while 95% said they intended to become regular users. More than 90% said they would recommend the service to others.
