Poczta Polska becomes Post Poland SA

Polish Post (Poczta Polska) became a sole joint-stock company called Post Poland SA, with the Polish Treasury as the sole shareholder. Post Poland SA said that the change would enable it to increase options on raising investment capital.

“The newly established company, which has taken over the rights and obligations of the former Poczta Polska, will be able to use the word “post” in the name and use the registered trademark” said Andrzej Polakowski, president of the company.

“We’ll be introducing a series of projects but we want to introduce these changes gradually, without affecting customers” he said.

Poland is expected to fully open its postal market in 2013. Improvements planned include comprehensive tracking and SMS messaging to alert customers that they have a letter or parcel.
