South Africa Post offers vehicle licence renewals

The motor vehicle renewal facility at post offices has proven extremely popular. Motorists can renew their motor vehicle licences at selected post offices in five of the nine provinces in South Africa.

The service is offered in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal as well, though Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, the North West and the Western Cape have yet to come on stream.

Motorists must produce a printed renewal notice to renew a motor vehicle licence. Those without a renewal notice can fill in the relevant documentation at the Post Office for the license to be processed, but would also need their identity document. Motorists renewing licences at the post office immediately receive a valid licence disk and receipt.

Ndala Mnisi, head of consumer services at South Africa Post, said that the Post Office partners with government to make service more accessible to the public.
