La Poste to help the Armenian postal operator modernise functions and expand the range of services

The cooperation agreement between the French La Poste national postal operator and Hay Post national postal operator of Armenia was signed on 6 May 2010. Jean-Paul Forceville, International Director of La Poste, has said at a news conference in Yerevan. According to him, the activity of Hay Post will be based on three main directions: letters, cargo and financial services.

Jean-Paul Forceville noted that La Poste intends to also realise investments in setting up a sorting center, which will be located in Yerevan “Zvartnots” International Airport.

According to the Chief Executive Director of  Hay Post Arman Khachaturyan, the company has a unique infrastructure in Armenia, which, given the assistance of the French operator, will help it become an important tool for even development of Armenian communities. “Our cooperation with the French postal operator aims at modernising the functions and services of Hay Post, providing affordable and reliable postal services to the population of Armenia”, he stated.

Speaking of provision of banking services, Arman Khachaturyan noted that by the end of 2010, they will have repaired 30 postal offices, which will also start providing financial services. And by 2015, they plan to have opened 250 more postal offices of Post Bank, and 4 bn AMD will be invested to that end.

Executive Director of Armenian “Converse Bank” Tigran Davtyan noted that Post Bank will provide the following banking services: money transfers, maintenance of deposit and bank accounts, deposits for elderly people and children, provision of plastic cards, etc. He informed that in future Post Bank will also realise crediting in spheres of agriculture and small business.
