Nightfreight secures contract extension with Rapid Racking

UK-based Nightfreight has secured a further three-and-a-half year contract with the storage solutions supplier Rapid Racking. The contract will see Rapid Racking outsourcing all onward deliveries for the first time, after previously operating its own in-house fleet.

Nightfreight will manage the complete outbound delivery of Rapid Racking’s full product range including pallet racking, shelving and containers from its Gloucestershire site to its B2B and B2C customers nationwide.

The company said it will operate five dedicated vehicles from its Risley, Southall, Willenhall and Pucklechurch sites, supported by its national ‘shared use’ network of 53 depots. Latest wireless hand-held technology will be employed to manage the delivery of over 9,000 consignments per year.

Phil Davies, customer fulfilment manager at Rapid Racking, said: “This strong partnership will help us significantly improve service levels and process orders faster than ever before.

“By outsourcing all our outbound deliveries, we will be able to take advantage of Nightfreight’s full range of multi-delivery channels to ensure we’re delivering a first class service to our UK commercial and retail customers.”

Ian Smith, chief executive officer at Nightfreight, said: “As their third party logistics provider, Rapid Racking can capitalise on the much greater benefits of our shared network, which is designed to deliver a first class customer experience.”
