Deutsche Post plans to aquire stake in ITG

19th April 1999

Deutsche Post is planning to acquire an 80% stake in ITG Internationale Spedition GmbH. With this acquisition, the Group is aiming to assume a leading position for industry-specific solutions in fashion logistics.

ITG is a company which operates in the field of contract logistics and focuses mainly on the textile industry. ITG provides the entire range of logistics services from the manufacturer right into the retailers’ shelves including textile processing and quality control. With a workforce of around 600, the transport and logistics company generates an annual turnover of approximately DM 150 million.

Deutsche Post will be consistently continuing its growth strategy in the field of value-added services with this acquisition and will be strengthening the parcel service and the postal clothes-on-rails service at the same time.

Dr. Klaus Zumwinkel, CEO of Deutsche Post, is convinced that the participating interest in ITG Internationale Spedition GmbH can only benefit both companies: “For Deutsche Post, ITG is an excellent supplement to its activities in contract logistics, on the other hand, ITG will benefit from the expanding Deutsche Post Group.”
