Czech Post to provide modern uniforms for 22,000 staff

Staff at Czech Post will be given “modern” new uniforms from next year, as part of the changing face of the Czech post office.

New uniforms will be more modern and comfortable according to Czech Post

New uniforms will be provided to 21,750 employees over a three-year period, including those in delivery and processing positions as well as admin staff at head office.

The Post promised that the new uniforms will be more comfortable as well as fitting in with current fashion trends.

It is set to spend CZK 240m on the uniform contract, in a deal with three suppliers – Koutny, Xena Prague and Blazek Prague – that should see it saving 17% a year on uniform costs.

Czech Post director general Petr Zatloukal said the new uniforms would replace current uniforms whose appearance and materials were chosen a decade ago.

He said Czech postal employees “simply deserve better clothes”.

Zatloukal said: “Employees who work mainly outside need better clothes today. Our new outdoor collection was designed from materials that will allow them to perform their hard work in any weather.”

Modernisation

The change in uniforms comes as part of a broad modernisation at Czech Post, which has included a transformation of post offices that started in October last year.

Post offices are being equipped in a modular form, with modules that can be adapted to the needs of each branch.

Plans are to modernise nearly 50 branches by 2012.

Zatloukal said: “The Post is changing its face by the end of the year, building 48 new branches in a form that will save cost and usable space, while being more comfortable for customers.”

Czech Post is also preparaing a range of supplementary services that will be launched this autumn, which is says bring greater customer convenience.
