Hermes UK has picked up a home delivery contract with outsourcing provider 2Touch to become a part of the supply chain for online retailer Duvet & Pillow Warehouse.

The deal will involve handling around 100,000 deliveries a year, the company said.

Hermes UK said it won the deal thanks to its ability to provided fully-tracked business to consumer deliveries within 48 hours, backed up by “sophisticated” reporting and proof-of-delivery capabilities.

The DAPW contract will take the form of a 100% signed-for service, with daily collections of bedding products from 2Touch’s contact centre at Doxford Technology Park, Sunderland, to the Hermes national distribution hub in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

From the hub, the orders will go out to more than 7,500 couriers via the company’s regional depot network to households across the UK.

Stuart Gray, Managing Director of 2Touch, said teaming up with Hermes meant making use of a “sophisticated mobile computing infrastructure”.

“This will ensure the delivery process seamlessly integrates with the wider supply chain and provides total visibility of orders,” said Gray.

Carole Woodhead, CEO of Hermes in the UK said: “Our mobile communications infrastructure has enabled us to transform the way we track, trace and report the delivery of parcels on behalf of our customers. This is allowing us to adapt to meet the changing delivery needs of retailers and consumers.”
