Swiss Post Solutions bolsters team to expand UK business
Swiss Post Solutions is stepping up its document processing business in the North of England and Scotland with the appointment of new business development manager Gavin Harrison. Harrison joins the business process management arm of Swiss Post with a background in business development within the broadcast media – most recently at local radio stations Rock FM in Preston and Key 103 in Manchester.
He will remain in England’s North West, based in Blackburn, and as well as working to drive the SPS document processing business in the North and Scotland, he will focus on supporting the SPS Document Processing Centre in the Salford Quays area of Manchester.
Commenting on his appointment, Harrison said he had been impressed by the transformation of SPS from a physical mailroom provider into an integrated mail and document processing service provider.
“It was this flexibility and dynamism within the business that was particularly attractive to me to cause me to switch from a career I’d been in for 13 years,” he said, noting that at present businesses were looking for ways to increase efficiency and profitability, with the outsourcing of document processing one way in which they could do so.
“By automating the process of information gathering SPS’s customers are able to take paper out of the equation and improve their business processes,” said Harrison. “SPS are experts in this – delivering accurate information to a client’s work flow system, which in turn reduces costs and improves service efficiency. By doing this SPS will free up more of a client’s time and budget to focus on their core competencies.”
Harrison joins the more-than 6,000 people employed by Swiss Post outside Switzerland, where it specialises in document and information management services and generates 14% of its $6bn total sales.
Charlie Peters, sales and marketing director of Swiss Post Solutions UK and Ireland said: “I am delighted to welcome Gavin to SPS. His contacts and knowledge of companies in the North West will be hugely beneficial to SPS as we continue to demonstrate the value and quality of our document processing services to companies right across the UK.”
