Pakistan Post Office earns Rs 400 million profit

The Director General Pakistan Post Office Maj Gen ® Agha Masood Hassan has said, the department earned Rs 400 million profit this year. Revolutionary steps are being taken for further improvement of postal system in the country, he told PPI Saturday.

Mr Hassan said Post Office Department is introducing reforms in postal sector which have brought about positive and encouraging changes in postal services and efficiency of the department has been enhanced that this department in now earning profit.

He said new dimensions have been added to the old traditional Dak system to meet the current demands of modern age.

He said besides introducing new services to accelerate delivery of the post, modern techniques including automation and computerization is being introduced, so that people may avail better postal facilities throughout the country. Replying to a question, Mr. Hassan said, the limit of money order facility has been extended from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000.

Presently, he said more than 48,000 employees are working in the post office adding that the provision of maximum facilities as per rules and regulations to the postal employees will be ensured to that they could work with devotion.

He stressed for participation by the private sector in modernization of the postal system.
