JD Williams to offer parcel deliveries to ByBox lockers

One of the UK’s largest independent multi-channel home shopping retailers is opening up its delivery options to include dropping off items at a network of parcel lockers around the country. JD Williams, a GBP 700m company that ships around 14m parcels each year, is partnering with the parcel locker-based logistics firm ByBox to extend its delivery alternatives.

When shopping among the retailer’s fashion and gift brands, which include Marisota, Simply Be, Jacamo, Home Shopping Direct, High and Mighty and Fashion World, customers unable to receive packages at home during the day will be able to opt to have items delivered overnight to their nearest ByBox parcel locker.

ByBox currently has a network of more than 300 parcel lockers around the UK, and has a GBP 2m investment in place to expand its network to place more parcel lockers at convenient locations like stations, supermarkets and filling stations.

The company says it delivers every day of the year, allowing customers to collect their online purchases even on Sundays, Bank Holidays and Christmas Day.

Stuart Miller, the chief executive and co-founder of ByBox, said the addition of JD Williams to its growing list of online partners showed the company’s brands understood their customers and wanted to make their lives “a little bit easier”.

“Beginning a partnership with JD Williams is a landmark in the story of smart delivery, and shows that consumers want an alternative to the traditional model of delivery,” said Miller.

“Our lockers mean freedom: the freedom of not having to wait around at home or at the office for a delivery. Busy lives can be transformed with ByBox.”

ByBox

Coventry-based ByBox has been operating for 12 years, and is currently turning over around GBP 51m while delivering more than 20m parcels a year.

The privately-owned company, which has 320 employees, has a background in business-to-business logistics, such as shipping parts and supplies to local field representatives or engineers of its business clients, but is currently investing in boosting its presence in the business-to-consumer market.

ByBox produces its own parcel lockers, owning the luggage locker manufacturing and service business Logibag SAS.

JD Williams said partnering with ByBox meant greater choice in parcel delivery for its customers.

John Cusick, the retailer’s head of distribution, said: “The ByBox service fills a significant void in the home delivery market and is a welcome addition to the JD Williams suite of delivery options. We want our customers to be able to decide when and where they receive their order, to suit their individual circumstances.”
