Prime Vision sets up manufacturing operations in Australia
Sorting automation specialist Prime Vision is establishing its first manufacturing presence in Australia.
The Netherlands-based firm will be producing and assembling its automation hardware at the new facility in Sydney, which is set to include office space along with a showroom, manufacturing and test areas.
Production will start with a new line of integrated systems solutions is set to be ready for export in the first and second quarters of 2013, the company said.
The machines will use Prime Vision’s PROCESS-IT platform.
The initial production will see workstations configured as Image Lift Systems, used for the sorting of registered mail items for a “major” postal operator.
However, the company said the platform is “highly flexible”, and can be configured for other modes of operation such as revenue recovery batch checks for postal operators or dimension weigh and scan systems for couriers.
Prime Vision has had an office in Australia since April 2011, but now says its manufacturing operations there will help meet demand from the “ever-expanding” Asia Pacific region.
Plans are to hire various new staff members to boost the company’s capability in computer-aided design, software programming, assembly, installation and commissioning and project management.
Tom Ellis, the general manager for Prime Vision in Australia, said: “This investment shows our confidence in the Australian market and enables us to support our clients and partners at a much higher level.”
