Nexive launches e-commerce delivery service in Italy

Nexive, the private postal operator in Italy, has launched a new parcel delivery service tailored for e-commerce shipments. The company which rebranded last year from TNT Post Italy said its new Sistema Economy is designed for business-to-consumer shippers looking for lightweight solutions with added value options.

The service for packages up to 2kg in weight aims to be simply and convenient, making use of Nexive’s network of 700 branches throughout Italy.

It comes with text message alerts, which will let recipients know when an item will be delivered, as well as a track and trace feature that can be accessed online.

Nexive, which said its e-commerce business grew by 17% in 2014, said it is positioning itself to grab more of the market through a range of different services spanning the bridge between businesses and consumers.

Sistema Economy brings together the various Nexive Parcel offerings specifically for large e-commerce players, allowing a choice of five volume/weight sizes along with optional express delivery.

Benedetto Mangiante, the Nexive director of marketing and innovation, said: “The decision to launch Sistema Economy in our parcel offering demonstrates the commitment of Nexive to addressing the needs of an increasingly diverse and splintered market.

“We believe that through our delivery solutions and the reliability of our postal network, we can offer more added value to Italian companies and support the growth of e-commerce.”

Nexive, which is owned by Dutch postal operator PostNL, has been operating in Italy since 1998. Its more than 5,500 employees currently handle about 500m items a year, reaching about 80% of Italian homes.
