Chicago and Indianapolis Now Primed for delivery
Amazon’s Prime Now same-delivery service has arrived in Chicago and Indianapolis. The Prime Now service, which enables Amazon Prime members to choose either free two-hour delivery or one-hour delivery for $7.99, launched in Manhattan in December before expanded to other US cities.
Amazon Prime membership cost $99 a year in the United States, but consumers can sign up for a 30-day free trial to test out the service.
Reports from some US-based news providers say that Amazon Prime Now went live in Chicago and Indianapolis at the end of last week – but a notice on Amazon’s website says: “July 20, 2015 – Prime Now available in more Chicago and Indianapolis neighborhoods!”
Last month, Amazon Prime Now also reached beyond the United States borders, with a launch in selected postcodes in London.
Amazon has also been having a big push on its new Amazon Home Services venture – which enables customers to view and order services such as interior design and decorating, air conditioning maintenance or building work.
Amazon Home Services launched in the US on 30 March and today (22 July) the company has announced that it “has expanded the number of providers and the services they offer in 15 metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Jose and Washington D.C., adding to existing availability in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle”.
