MPD Group launches delivery management platform for e-retailers

Manchester-based MPD Group has announced the launch of its Electio delivery management platform (DMP) for e-retailers. “Electio offers 100 services, including international and click and collect, from the world’s leading carriers,” claimed MPD. “This enables retailers of all sizes, as well as third party logistics organisations, to connect directly to those services through a single portal, immediately enhancing the delivery options they can offer to customers.”

The SaaS platform features a dynamic allocation engine which selects the appropriate carrier for each delivery based on criteria that is pre-determined by the retailer, such as basket value, location, weight, and the day the customer expects their parcel to arrive. Electio can also automatically produce all the labelling and customs documentation.

Retailers can import their own negotiated delivery rates or use Electio’s wholesale ratecard.

“Retailers have been crying out for an easy to use, easy to integrate and easy to finance delivery management solution. Electio has been developed to make this a reality for ecommerce businesses, regardless of their size or delivery volumes,” claimed David Grimes, the CEO of MPD Group.

The launch of Electio follows the recent announcement of a £3.5 million investment package secured by the MPD Group. The investment was led Praetura Capital with follow-on investors, Seneca Partners, as well as funding from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).

MPD Group developed the software for the “My Parcel Delivery” consumer and SME parcel delivery comparison website.
