GO-JEK looking to expand Indonesian delivery service

GO-JEK is reportedly looking to launch a new division, called GO-BOX, which will offer an Indonesia-wide inter-city package delivery service. According to local sources,  GO-JEK intends to launch GO-BOX simultaneously in the cities of Balikpapan, Bandung, Batam, Bekasi, Cirebon, Denpasar, Makassar, Medan, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Semarang, Solo, Surabaya and Yogyakarta – and then continue its roll-out over the following months.

GO-JEK is an established presence in the Greater Jakarta area, where it uses thousands of “ojek drivers” (motorcycle taxis) to deliver parcels, shopping and food.

However, a report published recently by Daily Social said that the GO-BOX service will not use the ojek driver model, but will instead be rolled out in partnership with “traditional” logistics companies.

According to the DailySocial report, it was ” still unclear whether Go-box will partner with different companies for each city or a single nation-wide partner”.
