Tesla co-founder joins Clearpath Robotics
Marc Tarpenning, a co-founder of Tesla Motors, has joined the advisory board of Clearpath Robotics, the developer of self-driving vehicles and robots for industrial applications. Tarpenning co-founded electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors in 2003 and led the development of the Tesla Roadster – the first production automobile to use lithium-ion battery cells. Tarpenning is now an active board member and advisor with numerous esteemed organizations and resides in Portola Valley, California.
“Self-driving technology is clearly on the cusp of a major breakthrough. I’m happy to offer my assistance to Clearpath who, much like Tesla, has ambitious goals for making a meaningful impact on society,” said Tarpenning.
Clearpath’s product range includes the Otto 1500 a self-driving, heavy load material transporter designed for use in warehouses and industrial centers. The Otto has a payload capacity of 1,500kg and a maximum speed of 2m/s.
