India’s TinyOwl reportedly scaling back food delivery operations

India’s TinyOwl is scaling back its food delivery operations, according to local sources. Media reports indicate that TinyOwl is now focusing on its food delivery operations in Mumbai – at least for now.

The company has been active in most of the main Indian cities, including Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Jaipur and Bangalore.

India-based MediaNama reported today (23 May) that it tried accessing the app through locations in Hyderabad, Nagpur, Pune, Gurgaon and Bangalore – and in each instance was met with a “Temporarily closed for service improvement” message.

India’s food delivery market is extremely active – but it is also fiercely competitive and observers expect to see more “market consolidation” as the many start-up players are under pressure to show return on their backers’ considerable investments.

There has been speculation that TinyOwl may be looking for some sort of tie-up with the delivery start-up Roadrunnr. The two companies are said to share investors, including Nexus Ventures and Sequoia Capital.
